A two-hour online experience for Toastmasters members who have ever wondered: could I do this?
Hey,
You have stood at the front of a room. You have given speeches, run meetings, evaluated your fellow members, perhaps even stepped into a workshop facilitation. And somewhere along the way, a question quietly appeared: what if I could help other adults learn and grow — not just in Toastmasters, but anywhere?
If that question has ever crossed your mind — even once, even briefly — the ETN Trainer Talent Search Clinic was designed for you.
What Is the Clinic?
The Trainer Talent Search Clinic is a two-hour online session offered by the European Trainers Network, the community of Toastmasters members in Region 10 dedicated to developing skilled, confident adult trainers.
But it is not a training course. No skills are taught. No theories are delivered. No one is tested.
Instead, it is something rarer: a structured, experiential conversation designed to help you explore your own motivation — honestly, without pressure — and gain a clear-eyed understanding of what becoming a qualified trainer actually involves.
Think of it as a motivational interview, in group form. Its purpose is not to convince you that training is right for you. Its purpose is to help you find your own answer.
What Happens in Two Hours?
The session moves through seven carefully designed segments. You will introduce yourself not with your Toastmasters biography, but with a single sentence that matters more: why you showed up. You will revisit the self-assessment you completed before arriving and share — briefly, honestly — what interests you most about the idea of becoming a trainer.
Then, at the heart of the session, comes a moment that tends to stay with people. You will be given three minutes to think of something you know how to do — anything, professional or personal — and then two minutes to explain it to a partner in a way that genuinely shifts their understanding. Not a speech. An explanation with a purpose.
The debrief of that small experience is where things get interesting.
By the time you reach the final reflection — two quiet sentences you write for yourself alone — most participants find they know something they did not know at the start. Not about training. About themselves.
Who Is It For?
The clinic is open to any Toastmasters member who has been a member for at least six months and has either completed one Pathways path or brings strong communication and leadership experience from their professional life.
You do not need to have delivered a training before. You do not need to be certain. Curiosity is enough.
What the clinic is not designed for is passive observers. The session requires cameras on, genuine participation, and a willingness to be reflective in a small group. If that feels right, you are likely the right person.
Why ETN?
The European Trainers Network exists because the Toastmasters organisation — remarkable as it is — has a gap. The skills required to be a truly effective trainer go well beyond speaking skills, and the opportunities to develop those skills in a supported, evaluated, community setting are rare in Region 10.
ETN fills that gap. Through quarterly networking sessions, the Trainers’ Lab, and the extended From Speaker to Trainer program, ETN provides a community of peers who develop their skills together — training each other, evaluating each other, and building something that individual effort alone cannot.
The Trainer Talent Search Clinic is the door into that community. There is no obligation on the other side of it. But if what you find in those two hours resonates — if something in you says yes, this is the direction — ETN will be ready for you.
How to Register
Places are limited to ensure the quality of conversation. To register, or to be notified of the next available date, visit ETN.tmclub.eu or contact europeantrainersnetwork@gmail.com.
Complete the Trainer Readiness Scorecard — sent to you upon registration — before the session. It takes about fifteen minutes and will be your starting point on the day.
We look forward to the conversation.
